LASER & LIGHT SOLUTIONS

Cherry Angiomas are extremely common in adults over thirty. They appear spontaneously in many people of middle age but can occur in young people as well, although less commonly.

These small round papules develop when an abnormal proliferation of blood vessels form a cluster of capillaries at the surface of the skin. Initially they may appear as tiny red dots only a tenth of a millimeter in diameter and almost flat. Over time, they usually grow to about one or two millimeters across and sometimes to a centimeter or more in diameter. Because the blood vessels comprising Cherry Angiomas are so prolific and so close to the skin’s surface, they may bleed profusely if injured. and sometimes to a centimeter or more in diameter. Because the blood vessels comprising Cherry Angiomas are so prolific and so close to the skin’s surface, they may bleed profusely if injured.

Cherry Angiomas are (benign) tumors, but they are harmless, having no relation to cancer. They occur in all races, ethnic backgrounds and sexes. The number and size may increase with advancing age. They do not require treatment, but if they are cosmetically unappealing or are subject to bleeding, we can remove them for you with the same laser we use to treat other vascular concerns. It will often only require a single treatment to get rid of them!
